Performance materials group Milliken, parent company of technical fabric developer Polartec, has secured science-based approval for its net-zero targets.

Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a UN-backed collective dedicated to helping companies set emission-reduction targets that are consistent with climate science and the Paris Agreement.

It has now verified Milliken’s short- and long-term targets, which apply to the group’s entire business portfolio, including Polartec.

Head of sustainability at Milliken, Kasel Knight, said: “By working with SBTi, our net-zero commitment has been fully vetted by the best available science on a global scale.”
