Fire hits garment factories again
International media reported two major fires in garment factories in late November, one of them fatal.
A blaze in Anyang in Henan Province in China claimed 38 lives, the authorities there have said. The fire broke out in a factory making cotton garments.
Days later, a garment factory at Gazipur in Bangladesh also went on fire. This time there were no reported casualties, but campaign groups quickly said they hoped the incident would serve as a reminder to all in the industry to put advanced fire-prevention programmes in place.
