Brazil expects a bigger crop as cotton planting begins
The industry body for Brazilian cotton producers, Abrapa, has said it expects a cotton crop of almost 3 million tonnes for the 2022-2023 season. This would represent an increase of 18% year on year.
Planting is taking place at the moment in Brazil and Abrapa has said farmers there are sowing cotton on more than 1.6 million hectares. This, too, represents an increase, of 1.3% compared to the previous season.
By the end of November, farmers had begun planting cotton on the states of São Paulo, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais and Bahia.
