Flagship factory will boost renewable yarn production
Monofilament yarn producer Monosuisse has entered into a new agreement with renewable chemistry specialist Avantium.
Under the arrangement, Monosuisse will have access to polyethylene furanoate, made from the furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) that Avantium will produce at a new flagship plant.
Avantium’s flagship FDCA plant, currently under construction at Delfzijl in the Netherlands, will be the first of its kind, making FDCA from plant-based sugars, the company has said. It expects to start production there in 2024.
Monosuisse will buy polyethylene furanoate from the plant for use in its yarns.
