A 30-strong panel of engineers, test riders and journalists has named footwear brand Garmont as one of the winners in the 2023 Design & Innovation Awards. The Germany-based team behind the awards describes them as being the Oscars of the cycling and outdoor sector.

Garmont won in the outdoor category for its 9.81 Hi-Ride shoe. The Italian footwear company says the shoe is comfortable enough to wear for trail-running and hiking, but robust enough to wear for cycling too.

The upper is made from an anti-abrasion, recycled ripstop nylon fabric, and the shoe also has a breathable, washable footbed that is made from 100% recycled materials.
