Special shirt generates record sales
Sports brand Hummel has said it is thrilled by the success of a special shirt it designed for German football club 1. FC Köln. The Cologne-based club celebrates its 75th anniversary on February 13 and the team will wear the special shirts for a match against Eintracht Frankfurt on that date.
The commemorative shirt went on sale at the end of January and Hummel said it had been an immediate success among fans.
Sales reached 10,000 in the first few days, which Hummel said was a record for the club’s merchandise.
“It’s a great honour to be a part of this historic celebration, and to see the love and support from the fans is truly humbling,” said Hummel chief executive, Allan Vad Nielsen.
