Brazil braced for bumper cotton crop
Brazil’s main cotton producers’ representative body ABRAPA has said that the country’s harvest for the marketing year 2022-2023 is likely to exceed 3 million tonnes of fibre for only the second time in the industry’s history.
Current projections point to a crop of 3.1 million tonnes, which would represent an increase of 18.2% year on year.
The only other marketing year in which Brazilian cotton farmers achieved a yield of more than 3 million tonnes was 2019-2020.
