Leftover fabrics in use again at Fjällräven
Outdoor brand Fjällräven is preparing to introduce a second collection of clothing and equipment produced using leftover fabrics.
This initiative is the fruit of a project the company calls Samlaren, from the Swedish word for ‘gatherer’. It introduced the idea in 2021. The second collection will become available on April 18.
Creative director, Henrik Andersson, has said Fjällräven’s production processes only generate small volumes of waste fabric. “This is a good thing,” he said, “but it means Samlaren is a limited collection.”
He said the brand would continue with the initiative until it becomes so efficient that there are no leftovers.
The new collection includes jackets (see image), shirts, dungarees and shorts. Two Samlaren backpacks will follow in June.
