Architecture inspires new version of New Balance shoe
Footwear designer Ronnie Fieg has worked with New Balance on a project to create a new version of the 998 shoe.
The New York-based designer said the work of architect Frank Lloyd Wright had been his inspiration for the project. Working through the Kith fashion brand that Ronnie Fieg set up, he called the new shoe Made In USA 998.
This version of the shoe features a mesh upper, with pigskin suede and hairy suede overlay panels “adding a varied sense of texture”, New Balance said. The color palette is from architectural sketches and models of Frank Lloyd Wright’s futuristic conceptual city, Broadacre City. The model is offered in two colourways, highlighting creamy white alongside earthy brick red, warm apricot, and olive green.
