Wool industry carbon emissions on the way down in Australia

A new report on the performance of the sheep and wool industry in Australia has found that carbon emissions from sheep farming there fell by 17% between 2018 and 2020.

An organisation called the Sheep Sustainability Framework (SSF), set up in 2021 by industry organisations including Wool Producers Australia, recently published its second annual report.

It said Australia’s sheep flock is likely to reach 78.75 million head in 2023. Production of wool will reach a volume of 340 million kilos this year, the report said, and a value of 3.5 billion Australian dollars.
