UK-based group JD Sports has announced its intention to take 100% ownership of Iberian Sports Retail Group (IRSG).

JD Sports already has a stake of just over 50% of IRSG but now intends to acquire the remaining shares from Balaiko Firaja Invest, Sonae Holdings and other minority shareholders. It has said it will spend just over €500 million on the deal.

ISRG currently operates more than 460 stores across Europe. It runs JD stores in Spain and Portugal, Sprinter in Spain, Sport Zone in Portugal and Aktiesport and Perry Sport in the Netherlands. ISRG also has a 98% holding in online sports retailer Deporvillage and a 50.1% holding in fitness equipment business Bodytone.
