Senior ICA figures visit Brazil
International Cotton Association (ICA) president, Tim North, and the organisation’s managing director, Bill Kingdon, visited Brazil in early July.
They held talks with national cotton-sector body Abrapa and visited cotton growers in Mato Grosso and Bahia.
Discussions included the programmes Brazil has in place to establish better fibre traceability.
In comments at the end of the visit, Bill Kingdon said: “It’s clear that this country is on the way to becoming a world leader in cotton exports and some of the initiatives that it is developing are fantastic. Brazil is a very important market. It is definitely a global player and it’s impressive to see at first hand the energy, the competence and the capability of Brazilian cotton producers.”
