Rugby boot launch from adidas ahead of World Cup
In advance of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, which kicks off in France on September 8, adidas has launched a new lightweight rugby boot, the adizero RS15.
Its category director for field sports, Matt Fielding, said the company had worked on a lightweight boot because feedback it had received from players showed that speed across all positions was what today’s rugby players wanted.
He said: “Rugby is faster and more dynamic than ever before, requiring high levels of skill and athleticism from its players, and different innovations of ours to support them. We created a boot that can facilitate the multi-directional speed required to make a difference across the field, from the back row, all the way to fullback.”
Features it has incorporated into the adizero RS15 include a lightweight frame weighing 313 grammes, with a “minimised silhouette” to allow for maximum speed. It has full-grain leather from the forefoot to the midfoot, but ripstop material on the boot’s back quarter.
