Alcaraz Wimbledon win no surprise to Babolat
Racket sports equipment supplier Babolat has welcomed Carlos Alcaraz’s triumph in the 2023 Wimbledon men’s singles championship, saying the 20-year-old “breathes new life into professional tennis”.
The youngest-ever world number-one clinched the title in London on July 16 in an epic final against Novak Djokovic. This was the Spanish player’s second Grand Slam, following his victory at the US Open in 2022.
After the final, Babolat revealed that its commercial relationship with Carlos Alcaraz began in 2013 when he began to make an impression, as a ten-year-old, in junior competitions. This has continued throughout the last decade and the new Wimbledon champion used the company’s Pure Aero 98 racket and RPM Blast strings to secure victory.
Company president, Eric Babolat, said: “Carlos Alcaraz perfectly embodies the spirit of the Babolat family. His talent, passion, and determination reflect the fundamental values we have upheld since 1875. We’re delighted to support such a promising young player, and we congratulate him on this new title, which will undoubtedly be followed by many more.”
