Wool’s sports-shoe pull brings Salomon on board
Outdoor brand Salomon is the latest to work with the Woolmark Company to create high-performing shoes with uppers made from merino wool.
The brand has produced a new version of its Pulsar shoe, the PRG Knit, in which merino wool makes up 30% of the knitted yarn content in the front upper of the shoe, the area from the to the base of the ankle.
Salomon said it had chosen to use merino wool for comfort, durability, moisture management, breathability and temperature management.
According to the Woolmark Company, using merino yarn in knitted uppers also provides sports shoe brands with an opportunity to reduce their reliance on synthetic materials.
