Racket sport specialist Babolat is to open a new technical centre dedicated to rackets for  padel. The new facility will be located close to Barcelona.

The brand will use it to test new rackets for padel, a sport for which players use solid, stringless bats. The first rackets to be developed there will come onto the European market in limited numbers in the course of 2024.

Chief executive, Eric Babolat, said the new studio would be “a real place of innovation” and would have the aim of exploring “more responsible racket production” and new manufacturing methods.

He added: “We are determined to shape the future of padel and offer players exceptional equipment.”
