The authorities in Myanmar have agreed to increase the minimum wage in the country by 20%.

According to business media group Nikkei, this is the first increase in the minimum wage in Myanmar since 2018. It takes the minimum daily wage to around $2.75.

At the same time, the Asian Development Bank has predicted that inflation in Myanmar will reach 14% this year, compared to levels of 3.6% for the region as a whole.
