Shoe brand supports training for repair technicians
Ski mountaineering athlete Kílian Jornet has said his NNormal footwear brand is working with soling technology provider Vibram to train new shoe repair technicians.
The Catalan athlete set up NNormal with Mallorca-based footwear group Camper in 2022. He said from the outset that durability and longevity would be among the key attributes of the brand’s shoes.
As part of this, he said simplicity of design, to aid repairability, was also an important part of the new brand’s philosophy.
To take this commitment to repairability further, Mr Jornet has now revealed that NNormal and Vibram are supporting training for a new generation of technicians who will be able to repair and resole the shoes.
He told Forbes: “We knew it would be hard to make high-performance shoes with a simple design, but simplicity is what makes the shoe easier to fix.”
