Melt-spinning expansion project complete at DITF
Germany’s Institutes of Textile and Fibre Research (DITF) have completed a project to modernise and expand a melt-spinning pilot plant at their Denkendorf headquarters.
Financial support from the state government of Baden-Württemberg helped fund the project.
DITF said the new facility would help research into new spinning and fibre production processes, including work to develop fibres made from biodegradable and bio-based polymers.
Other focal points will include the development of bicomponent spinning technology, in which the fibres can be produced from two different components. The expansion project has included the installation of bicomponent spinning technology from Oerlikon Neumag.
