Audit success means Centexbel can add new tests more quickly

Belgium’s influential textile research and design centre Centexbel has won the right to add, without seeking prior approval, to the list of products it can test and to the list of tests it can carry out.

Belac, the organisation in Belgium that manages and monitors these accreditations, recently carried out its annual audit of Centexbel and won the right to perform certain new tests under what it called “accreditation by self-approval”.

Centexbel said this achievement had come about as a result of the efforts of the people who work in its laboratories and it paid tribute to their dedication and professionalism.

The tests it can add are under what the accreditation authorities refer to as “a flexible scope”. Centexbel has explained that this allows it to perform certain, well-defined groups of new tests or standards without BELAC’s prior approval.

“Flexible scope will allow us to add new tests more quickly,” it said.
