Techtextil organiser happy to be “back in business”
Organiser of the Techtextil exhibition, Messe Frankfurt, said at the start of this year’s event (April 23-26) that it was delighted to be “back in business”.
A member of the executive board of Messe Frankfurt, Detlef Braun, said at the opening press conference that the covid-19 pandemic had an impact on the organisation and the events it runs that lasted 28 months.
He said this was like suffering a kind of “professional ban”. Over the course of those nearly two-and-a-half years, Messe Frankfurt had to cancel 1,200 events and lost between 70% and 80% of its expected turnover.
But he said the company expected record sales revenues in 2024 and that Techtextil was one of the events that was in good shape. “Techtextil is larger than ever,” Mr Braun said, “with 29% more exhibitors than the last edition in 2022.”
He said textile industry events were “one of the crown jewels of Messe Frankfurt”, with a portfolio of more than 50 events that attract 22,000 exhibitors.
