Forest project wins €3 million in support from Inditex
Fashion group Inditex has made a contribution of €3 million to a reforestation project in south-east Asia.
The project is called The Great People’s Forest and is an initiative that campaign group Conservation International has launched with local organisations in Bhutan, India and Bangladesh.
Its aim is to support conservation in the eastern Himalayan region. It will involve planting 1 billion trees and restoring and protecting 1 million hectares of land across the region.
Inditex chief executive, Óscar García Maceiras, said this was part of a wider commitment that the group has made to restore or regenerate 5 million hectares worldwide by 2030.
