Fencing fabrics stand up to DITF tests
Germany’s Institutes of Textile and Fiber Research (DITF) has said its technicians have tested the fabrics that have gone into the jackets, trousers, gloves, socks and masks that competitors will wear at fencing events at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Head of testing services at DITF, Matthias Schweins, said spectators watching the events can be sure competitors will come to no harm because of the rigorous testing to which the institutes have subjected the fabrics.
Tests include analysis of how much force would be required to puncture the fabric.
