Two big buyers for India’s cotton yarn exports
Bangladesh and China were by far the biggest importers of Indian cotton yarn in the first two months of 2024.
Official figures for January and February show that China and Bangladesh took a joint share of around 60% of the total in both months.
In January, India exported just over 80,000 tonnes of cotton yarn. Bangladesh was the destination for 40% of the total, with China taking 19%.
In February, the total volume of cotton yarn that India exported increased to just over 100,000 tonnes. Bangladesh imported 36% of the total and China increased its share to 24%.
