Footwear sales fuel full-year growth for JD Sports
Sports footwear and apparel group JD Sports has reported unaudited full-year results for the 53 weeks ending February 3, 2024.
Its results for the previous year were for 52 weeks. The group said it was presenting the new results on a 52-week basis “to aid comparison”.
Revenues for the full year exceed £10.5 billion; the comparative figure, excluding the extra week, was just under £10.4 billion, which gives JD Sports growth of 2.7% year on year.
It brought in £5.9 billion from sales of footwear, an increase of 8.2% year on year. Revenues from apparel, however, were £3.4 billion, a fall of 4.2%.
The rest of the group’s revenues came mostly from accessories with almost £670 million, but it also listed a combined figure of £543.7 million for outdoor living equipment, delivery charges and leisure club membership fees.
Chief executive, Régis Schultz, said the group had “outperformed the market”. He added that JD Sports had a strong business model and a clear strategy to deliver long-term growth.
