Curtain closes on Fashion For Good museum
As planned, innovation hub Fashion For Good closed its museum in Amsterdam on June 5.
The museum was a showcase for ideas for making the fashion industry more sustainable. It was open for six years and in that time attracted 115,000 visitors, as well as more than 250,000 followers online.
Among the visitors who travelled to the museum to see the 13 exhibitions that Fashion For Good curated during the six years, there were 8,000 students from 200 different schools.
On the attraction’s final day, chairman of the museum’s board, Albert Brenninkmeijer, said: “Our aim was to create a space that transforms visitors’ perspectives on clothing, inspiring and educating them. We envisioned sparking a global movement towards a sustainable fashion industry. We take pride in our contribution, driving change, and shaping the narrative around sustainable fashion. We aspire for our legacy to endure, motivating others to challenge the status quo for the betterment of our planet and future generations.”
Fashion For Good made clear that it remains committed to its work to “revolutionise the fashion industry”. The museum building will now become a space for events and for co-working.
