Vintage-style shirt for vintage car race
Performance textile manufacturer Ventile has partnered with Milan-based brands Connection Knitwear and Pacto Vintage Helmets to develop an overshirt for the 2024 edition of vintage car race the Mille Miglia Storica.
The race, which commemorates the original Mille Miglia car race, took place this year from June 11-15 in Italy, with vintage cars racing from Brescia to Rome and back again.
All participating cars must be pre-1957, the last year in which the original Mille Miglia took place. This year’s winners were Italian drivers Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli, who raced in a 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport Spider Zagato.
Paying homage to the original race, the shirt was handcrafted in Ventile L24 and Ventile Twill 225 performance cotton fabrics.
Other features included raglan sleeves to allow freedom of movement. A tab-close storm collar, umbrella-shaped back yoke and buttoned cuffs offered “further protection from adverse weather”, Ventile said.
