Milano Unica opens

The thirty-ninth edition of the Milano Unica textile exhibition opened on July 9, running for three days.

At the opening ceremony, the president of Milano Unica, Simone Canclini (pictured), said the textile and apparel industry was going through a challenging time, but he said he was greatly encouraged by the enthusiasm with which exhibitors and visitors had travelled to Milan for the event.

“More than 700 companies have invested in the exhibition this time,” he said, “and we have doubled the number of international companies here.”

He added that visitors had come to see these companies’ latest collections, which are for the autumn-winter 2025-2026 fashion season, “because they are looking for innovation, sustainability and circularity, not for the lowest price”.

President of trade and investment agency ICE, Matteo Zoppas, said he was convinced organising trade shows is an important part of promoting Made in Italy, a concept he said was now worth €625 billion per year in exports.

He said Made in Italy exports were now worth one-third of the entire national economy and had grown in value by 30% since 2019..
