Lower forecast for global cotton production
Cotton market information resource Cotlook has lowered its forecast for global raw cotton production in the 2024-2025 season by 330,000 tonnes.
In its report at the end of July, it said the downward revision was the result of lower than previously published forecasts for India, Pakistan and African cotton producing countries.
Sowing of the new crop in India was reduced compared to 2023-2024. There were hold-ups in Pakistan because of rain, while, in Africa, port congestion and transit delays were among the reasons Birkenhead-based Cotlook cited.
