Good Wool Collective prepares for first insight session

Specialist sustainability consultant for high-end clothing brands Lisa Bergstrand has set up an initiative called The Good Wool Collective, without outdoor brand Helly Hansen as one of the founding members.

Stockholm-based Bergstrand Consultancy said an inaugural insight session would take place on September 24, adding that these sessions would take place every two months.

Lisa Bergstrand said the collective would work to establish accurate carbon footprint data for wool and to convince brands that using wool can help brands meet existing and forthcoming environmental product regulations.

She said that brands that are part of the collective will share knowledge and resources “to create momentum that will make wool better for sheep, communities and the planet”.

“Wool is renewable, circular, readily recyclable and, if grown respectfully, can increase the health of the soil and sequester carbon,” she explained. “Wool can solve many of the challenges we have in the fashion and textile industries.”
