From first-responder gowns to Forloh anoraks

Montana-based technical outdoor clothing brand Forloh has taken a creative approach to sourcing the materials for a new collection, Raider.

This collection, which consists of a vest for women and men, a half-zip top for women and men, and a half-zip anorak for men, uses Power Grid fabric from Polartec.

Forloh has described Power Grid as being ideal for use in these garments. Its geometric knit enhances warmth and airflow, while reducing fabric mass, it said, because the knit creates air channels to prevent heat loss. The vest also has a hydrophilic inner surface that wicks moisture to help keep wearers dry.

An interesting component in the anorak is the overlay. During the covid-19 pandemic, Forloh was one of a number of companies that turned their hands to producing protective clothing for first-responders. It has repurposed excess rip-stop nylon fabric from that project to use in the overlay of the Raider anorak.
