22/10/2024

The International Cotton Association (ICA) has announced new leadership. Its members elected a new president and vice-presidents at its annual general meeting in Liverpool in mid-October.

Head of the organisation’s new leadership team will be Mohomed Bashir, chairman of Gul Ahmed Textile Mills in Pakistan. He will be the first person from Pakistan to lead the ICA.

He said the message he would strive to put across during his presidency would be one of inclusivity. “Success in our field is attainable for all, regardless of their background,” he said. “I believe that the cotton industry holds limitless possibilities for everyone willing to learn, grow, and excel.”

First vice-president will be Pierre Chehab, head of cotton in Europe for agricultural trading company Louis Dreyfus.

A director of agricultural exports firm Agri Direct Australia, Eimear McDonagh, will be second vice-president.
