Repair specialist to use Nikwax products in outdoor apparel restoration
Specialist social enterprise United Repair Centre has announced a new partnership with Nikwax. It will now use Nikwax’s cleaning and waterproofing solutions in the work it does to repair and restore clothing.
United Repair Centre carries out repairs on behalf of a number of high-profile brands and, in doing so, aims to provide employment opportunities to young adults and others for whom finding a job is sometimes challenging. It operates from its original hub in Amsterdam and a newly opened repair centre in London.
It will use PFAS-free solutions from Nikwax as part of its service to restore the performance of products such as waterproof and down clothing. Its chief operating officer, Paul Kerssens, said: “Cleaning and reproofing outerwear is a logical extension of our repair service to help people enjoy their clothing longer. Nikwax’s product and company values align perfectly with ours.”
For his part, Nikwax commercial director, Chris Ward, pointed out that the agreement with United Repair Centre would help more people “extend the life of their gear” and keep more products out of landfill.
