Baseball brand brings out first shoe collection
Louisiana-based baseball equipment manufacturer Marucci Sports has announced its entry into footwear.
Its first shoes, its MXB collection, are specifically for baseball and softball athletes. They incorporate Boa’s dial-based Fit System for fastening, which Marucci has said will offer each player and “personalized fit for every moment of the game”.
Marucci describes itself as “a player-founded enterprise”. Its chief executive, and co-founder, Kurt Ainsworth, was a pitcher in Major League Baseball for the San Francisco Giants and the Baltimore Orioles.
The company has specialised in bats until now, but Mr Ainsworth said it had examined the baseball shoe market and identified “a distinct opportunity” to bring “advanced technology” to this product category.
Development of the MXB collection took three years and Marucci has tested each model with athletes at all levels.
