Change of CEO at British Fashion Council

The British Fashion Council, the network that advises on key issues facing UK-based designers has announced Laura Weir as its new chief executive. Ms Weir (pictured) has been a member of the British Fashion Council’s committee since 2016. She is also on the board of fashion retail group Selfridges.

She will take up the role of chief executive on April 28 and will succeed Caroline Rush, who has held the post for the past 15 years.

At the time of the announcement, Ms Weir said she would focus on support for emerging and established designers to “strengthen the pipeline of British creative talent”.

Ms Rush announced her intention to leave last year but will stay in post to finalise reports for the current financial year, which ends in early April, and to carry out a handover. She will leave the British Fashion Council in June.
