Textile chemicals group Archroma has joined the BioCircular Materials Alliance.

Conceived by biomaterials pioneer Spiber, the BioCircular Materials Alliance brings together fashion brands, manufacturers and suppliers with the joint aim of encouraging the wider adoption of bio-based textile materials and chemical treatments.

This has led to the creation of a ‘BioCircularity Database’, which brands and mills can use to evaluate how their choice of fibres, dyes and finishing chemicals affect the recyclability of finished products. 

Archroma said it aims to support partners “to produce apparel and textiles that are safer and more durable, made in a more efficient way, and easier to recycle”.
