Athletic brand ASICS has launched a limited-edition collection of running apparel that takes its inspiration from the often off-beat make-up associated with Japan’s Kabuki theatre tradition.

ASICS said its aim was to blend “the rich tradition of Japanese artistic expression with advanced athletic apparel technology”.

Just as Kabuki make-up captures deep emotional expression, the new running apparel line features what ASICS has called “bold and artistic designs across all items”.

The collection includes singlets, jackets and shorts. Each item features proprietary technology called Actibreeze for comfort and breathability.
