‘Functional sustainability’ will be a feature at Intertextile Shanghai in March

10/02/2025

A sustainability concept that events organiser Messe Frankfurt introduced at the autumn 2024 edition of Intertextile Shanghai will also be part of the spring 2025 edition, which takes place from March 11-13.

The new concept, Econogy, takes its name from a combination of ecology and economy. Messe Frankfurt has said for a product to be sustainable it has to have a good business case behind it.

There will be more than 3,000 exhibitors at the March event. Those that have passed an independent check to confirm that claims they make about the environmental responsibility of their products are fair will be part of the event’s Econogy Hub.

Visitors to Intertextile Shanghai in March will be able to search for products on offer specifically from companies that are part of the Econogy Hub.

What the organisers refer to as “functional sustainability” will also feature prominently at another zone, Functional Lab. And within Functional Lab, a dedicated display area for “curated, on-trend functional fabrics”, the Cube, will make its first appearance at the spring show this time.
