New managing director for clothing at Marks & Spencer

Former chief executive of fashion group Boohoo, John Lyttle, is to become the new managing director of clothing at Marks & Spencer. He will take up the role on March 3, taking over from Richard Price. Mr Price will leave the group on April 30 following a handover period.

Chief executive, Stuart Machin, said he was sure John Lyttle would be “a brilliant colleague”. He said Marks & Spencer had a sleeves-rolled-up, tell-it-as-it-is culture, and that Mr Lyttle’s down-to-earth leadership style would be a good fit.

Sales for the group’s clothing and homeware division in the first half of the current financial year, April-September 2024, were just over £2 billion, an increase of 4.7% year on year.
