Hyrox events win support from Intersport
Retail group Intersport has said it views its sponsorship of key Hyrox events this year as a means of enhancing its position as “a global leader in local sports”. It said it believed the events would help create “significant sporting moments and experiences” for people taking part.
Launched in Hamburg in 2017, Hyrox is a competitive indoor athletic competition programme for people of all ages and abilities. Participants have to complete a series of eight runs of one kilometre, with each one followed by an activity at eight different exercise stations.
Intersport’s sponsorship began in February at an event in Maastricht. It will support a further three events in the later part of the year. These will be the Hyrox competition taking place in Hamburg from October 3-5, in Bordeaux from November 20-23, and in Stockholm from December 19-21.
The Maastricht event brought in over 7,000 athletes and more than 8,500 spectators. Hyrox organisers have said the events in Hamburg, Bordeaux and Stockholm will attract a combined 36,000 athletes and 32,000 spectators.
The retail group will work in partnership with Puma; the brand developed a spring-summer 2025 collection of footwear and apparel specifically for Hyrox. Competitors can complete pre-registration for the Hyrox events in Intersport stores. They will also have the opportunity to purchase performance apparel from Puma for the events.
General manager for brand and marketing at Intersport, Andy Hogg, said: “We are extremely proud and excited to partner with Hyrox, one of the fastest growing health and fitness events in the world. We are reaffirming our commitment to connecting with sports and health enthusiasts, offering support and ensuring we remain at the heart of local sporting communities.”
