MMCF boost for Jilin Chemical and Circulose

23/05/2025

Viscose, acrylic and bamboo fibre producer Jilin Chemical has made two announcements about its manmade cellulosic fibre (MMCF) product lines, which it says signal its continued investment in low-impact textile innovation.

The group will begin commercial-scale production of Reboocel, a staple fibre made with 70% Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified bamboo and 30% post-consumer recycled bamboo from furniture. It said it would target an annual output of 30,000 tonnes.

In parallel, Jilin Chemical said it would increase production of its Jirecell viscose filament yarn. It makes this yarn from 70% FSC-certified wood and 30% recycled cotton pulp sourced from Circulose. Its aim is to increase Jirecell production to 10,000 tonnes per year, with the possibility of increasing this to 20,000 tonnes per year in future.

It will also aim to increase to 50% the recycled content in Jirecell to reduce its reliance on virgin, forest-derived fibre.
