Adidas confirms data security breach
Sports group adidas adidas has confirmed that “an unauthorised external party” gained access to consumer data it had collected.
It said it had taken steps to contain the incident and had launched an investigation with information security experts.
In a statement, adidas said the affected data, which was accessed from a third-party customer service provider, included no password, credit card or any other payment-related information. “It mainly consists of contact information relating to consumers who had contacted our customer service help desk in the past,” the company said.
It added that it would inform potentially affected consumers as well as data protection and law enforcement authorities.
