New chapter for fibre company as ‘competitiveness’ becomes key
Finland-based fibre developer Infinited Fiber Company has announced that its chief executive, Petri Alava, will step down from the role on May 31.
Mr Alava is one of the co-founders of the company, which launched in 2016. It makes Infinna, a regenerated fibre made from post-consumer cotton-rich textile waste.
Chief operating officer, Sahil Kaushik, will become acting chief executive on June 1. A search for a new, permanent chief executive has already begun. Petri Alava will continue supporting the company as senior advisor until the end of November.
The company said that while circularity and sustainability “remain essential”, competitiveness will be front and centre in the next phase of Infinited Fiber’s industrial scale-up. This will mean an intensified focus on operational excellence and readiness for large-scale industrial investment.
Chairman of the board of directors, Andreas Tallberg, said the Infinna fibre has already been “validated by the market”. He added that the next strategic priority for the company has to be to translate that value into a profitable operation at industrial scale.
