Cotton estimates for 2025-2026 revised upwards
Cotton industry information resource Cotlook has revised upwards its predictions for the current season’s crop.
Its global market assessment for June included “a modest revision” for raw cotton output in the 2025-2026 season. Its estimate now is production of 25.97 million tonnes across the globe.
It said it now foresaw a lower output for the US, but that this is offset by “a considerable upward adjustment for China”.
In terms of consumption, its June review has higher figures for China, Vietnam and Bangladesh. Its total is now 24.96 million tonnes.
This means it expects production to exceed consumption by 1.09 million tonnes in 2025-2026. This is a smaller excess than it quoted earlier this year.
