Outdoor clothing brand Kalito has invested in robot-driven fabric cutting machines.

The Wuxi-based manufacturer said it had built up its business steadily over the last decade and now wanted to invest in high-end technology to keep growing.

Joint managing director Tommy Evensen, who is from Norway, said robot-driven fabric cutting was Kalito’s latest investment. It has bought several machines from the KP-A range that technology provider Yinentech has developed.

Speaking recently to Chinese media, Mr Evensen said investments of this kind were essential for Kalito to reach “the top of this industry” and stay there.

Products for which the company is using the technology include cross-country ski apparel, destined for the European market.
