A new cycling partner for Decathlon

Following its move at the start of July to take over sole ownership of the company behind a professional cycling operation, sporting goods group Decathlon has a new partner for the team.

Decathlon–AG2R La Mondiale competes in the UCI WorldTeam road cycling competition. The company behind it is called France Cyclisme; Decathlon has taken on sole ownership of France Cyclisme and former partner, insurance group AG2R La Mondiale, has stepped aside.

Logistics group CMA CGM is Decathlon’s new partner and, from January 1, the team will compete under the name Decathlon CMA CGM. The arrangement will be in place for an initial period of five years, with the possibility of renewal.

Decathlon chief executive, Javier López, said the two partners were determined to take the team to the top of cycling, through what he called “sporting excellence” and by shaping “the champions of tomorrow”.

He added: “We look forward to writing this new chapter with CMA CGM, with passion, humility, and ambition.”
