Amundsen tests DPP readiness in baselayer line
Norwegian outdoor brand Amundsen Sports has partnered with Trimco Group to make early preparations for the new Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation that is expected to be enforced from 2028.
Among several product and information requirements, the ESPR also stipulates a Digital Product Passport (DPP) to be implemented, which requires information about materials and end-of-life options.
The brand will trial how it can be ready for the DPP by implementing Trimco’s solutions on its new 100% merino wool Hero’s Hide Collection base layer.
The QR code label on the garment is a digital twin that shares fibre content and tier traceability, as well as garment images.
An essential element of this trial is that all departments in Amundsen are involved, said the companies: from IT to compliance, to operations, through to PR and Mmarketing teams, each has its role to play to ensure a successful outcome.
Antoine Thebault, CEO of Amundsen Sports, said: “This initial pilot project allows us to explore the field of ESPR, without exhausting the organisational resources. It is the first step in our journey towards full product transparency.”
