ICA president hopes for cotton revival

The International Cotton Association (ICA) elected a new leadership team at its 2025 annual general meeting in Dubai.

Its new president is Pierre Chehab, head of cotton for Europe trading firm Louis Dreyfus Company.
First vice-president is Eimear McDonagh, a director of consultancy group AgriVision Australia, while second vice-president is Raymond Faus, chief executive of Texas-based trading company Omnicotton. Chris Williams, a partner at Liverpool Cotton Brokers, is the newly appointed treasurer.

After his election, Pierre Chehab said: “The decline of cotton is not inevitable and it is up to us to revive the potential for growth for this natural fibre. The key is for all participants to join and work together in pursuit of our shared goal: the promotion of cotton.”

He said the different players in the cotton value chain could not afford to be divided. “So many livelihoods, from millions of farmers to every link in the value chain, depend on cotton,” he added.
