Sportstextiles issue four out now

Issue four of Sportstextiles is available now and you can read it here.

This issue explores the latest intersections of performance, innovation and sustainability in textiles. Our lead article looks at the rise of biotech dyes, showing how alternatives to conventional indigo are moving toward commercial scale. Separately, Polartec’s new AirCore fabric demonstrates how materials made without PFAS can still deliver moisture protection for cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts, as well as  a huge boost to breathability.

In Rise to the Challenge, we examine how Hyosung and Loop Industries are bringing textile-to-textile recycled polyester to the mainstream, creating circular solutions for everyday garments. Sustainability coverage highlights the latest developments that were on show at the recent Future Fabrics Expo in compostable footwear, biobased elastane, recycled insulation and protein derived fibres — and how EU regulations and innovative funding models are helping next-generation materials scale up.

Finally, our Dialogue features Martin Daniels of Haglöfs, reflecting on PFAS-free outerwear, circularity through repaired and restored products, and the brand’s ambitious growth across Asian markets.
