Multi-year recycled cotton agreement for H&M
Producer recycled cotton fibre Recover has signed a multi-year agreement with fashion retail group H&M.
Since early 2024, H&M and Recover have worked together on product development. They have concluded that they are now able to begin a scaled commercial introduction of Recover’s mechanically recycled cotton into H&M collections.
Recover operates five recycling hubs in Europe, Asia and the Americas and has said it can offer the Swedish fashion group “reliable access to recycled fibres at scale, with full traceability and quality consistency”. Its chief executive, Anders Sjo¨blom, said being able to offer this reliability of supply “is vital for the industry’s transformation”.
At H&M, head of material and components, Ulf Krigsman, said the group wanted to grow its business in a way that is “decoupled from resource use and extraction”. The group has a goal of using only recycled or sustainably sourced materials by 2030.
